Dr. Ramesh Uddarraju — Junior Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. Ramesh Uddarraju is a Junior Consultant at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, in Hyderabad, with more than 8 years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine.

His list runs from the bowel to the bile duct. He manages inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, severe functional GI disorders and severe gastroesophageal reflux disease, and on the liver chronic liver disease, liver cirrhosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He performs ERCP and GI stenting and treats biliary strictures, chronic pancreatitis and recurrent GI bleeding.

His training moved across three states. He read MBBS at ASRAM Medical College in Eluru, took his MD in internal medicine at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal in 2018, and his DM in medical gastroenterology at IMS and SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar in 2022. He also holds the MRCP specialty certificate in gastroenterology and hepatology from the UK.

His presented work matches the two halves of his list. He presented a paper on platelet indices in assessing disease severity in ulcerative colitis at the National IBD Conference in Vizag in 2024, and a case of EUS-guided biliary drainage in altered anatomy at ISGCON the same year. He also presented a poster on the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio as a mortality predictor in ACLF at INASL in 2023, and a case of a rare complication of viral Hepatitis A at the GUT Club in Bhubaneswar.

He was runner-up in the infectious disease quiz at the MAC-ID national conference in Manipal in 2019. Alongside KIMS Hospital he has been at ASRAM Medical College and at Kasturba Medical College under MAHE.
