Dr. Ajay J Swamy — Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in Hyderabad

Dr. Ajay J Swamy is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, with more than 31 years of experience.

His work spans both the interventional and the rhythm sides of cardiology. He performs coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty and stenting, diagnostic cardiac catheterization and TAVI or TAVR, implants pacemakers and ICDs, and carries out AF ablation. He manages coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation and heart failure.

His degrees were taken in the armed forces medical system and then at PGIMER. He read M.B.B.S and took his MD at AFMC in Pune, and his DM in cardiology at PGIMER in Chandigarh. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Interventions, and he held an International Senior Scientist Fellowship from ICMR in 2016. He has been proctored and trained in TAVR, rotational atherectomy, intravascular imaging, CRT device implantation and bifurcation angioplasty, and is a recognised DM and DNB cardiology examiner and an inspector for accreditation.

His earlier posts were military: Army Hospital (R and R) in New Delhi, MH CTC at AFMC in Pune, and Command Hospital Air Force in Bangalore, alongside PGIMER.

His awards began in training and continued in service. He won the Brig JC Chatergy award as best post-graduate student in 1996, the Ranjana Vij medal and the Brig IP Bhalla Gold Medal in 1999, and the VK Saini gold medal for DM research in 2006, presented by Dr. APJ Kalam.
