He also took spine microsurgery training at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore.

His awards are for research and came in three successive periods. In 2010 he received the VT Ingalhalikar Gold Medal from ASSI and OASIS and the OASIS Consultants Gold Medal for work on paediatric accommodative spinal cord shortening. In 2012 the Indian Orthopaedic Association gave him the SP Mandal Gold Medal for a paper on intraoperative scrape cytology of transpedicular biopsy of vertebral body lesions, and in 2014 ASSI its Young Investigators Award for research on trends in Indian spinal research.
