Dr. Rajasekara Chakravarthi Madarasu — Senior Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. Rajasekara Chakravarthi Madarasu is Senior Consultant, Clinical Director and Head of the Department of Nephrology and Transplant Services at Yashoda Hospitals, Hi-Tech City, in Hyderabad, with more than 30 years of experience.

His list covers chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome and polycystic kidney disease, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, percutaneous renal biopsy, and transplant care from pre-transplant evaluation through follow-up and graft dysfunction management.

He read MBBS at JSSMC, University of Mysore, in 1992 and completed his internship at the same hospital, took his MD in internal medicine there in 1997, and his DNB in nephrology at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, in 1999.

His research record is concentrated in dialysis and critical care nephrology. He won the Oreopoulos Award for the best paper at II PDSI in Hyderabad in August 1998 and the Tanker Award for the best paper at the ISN annual conference in Delhi in December 2007, and held travel grants to the 47th annual conference of JSDT in July 2002 and the 5th Prevention of Renal Disease Conference in Toronto in September 2006.

He has published in Kidney International, Contributions to Nephrology, Blood Purification, the Indian Heart Journal and the ADQI Consensus series, and holds memberships and research collaborations with international nephrology bodies including the Acute Dialysis Quality Initiative consortium. Consensus work of that kind is how dialysis practice is standardised across centres, which is a different contribution from a single-centre study.

Alongside Yashoda Hospitals he has worked at Star Hospitals and Care Hospitals in Hyderabad and at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai.
