Dr. Krishna Bharadwaj Pegatraju — Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. Krishna Bharadwaj Pegatraju is a Consultant at Yashoda Hospitals, Hi-Tech City, Hyderabad, with more than 9 years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine.

His practice covers the liver, the pancreas and the bowel. He performs ERCP, and manages chronic liver disease, chronic hepatitis B and C, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver diseases, refractory ascites, chronic pancreatitis, and inflammatory bowel disease including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

He read MBBS at Kurnool Medical College, took his MD in general medicine at Sri Venkateswara Medical College in Tirupati and his DM in medical gastroenterology at Christian Medical College, Vellore. He holds the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from the Royal College of Physicians in the UK, and completed focused EUS training at Universitat Rio Hortega in Valladolid, funded by a Sir Rata Tata Trust Professional Enhancement Grant in 2025.

His awards are concentrated in a short recent period and are almost entirely academic. In 2025 he received the Best DM/DNB Thesis Award from the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, the Prof. VI Mathan Award for best publications from the ISG Tamil Nadu chapter, an Editorial Fellowship and a Reviewer Appreciation Award from the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology, and first prize for oral presentation at PANCREAS 2025. The year before he received the Dr. B.S. Ramakrishna Award for best research work in DM gastroenterology and hepatology at CMC Vellore.

He was one among 40 clinicians from over 20 countries honoured to review the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation's ulcerative colitis guidelines for 2026, and holds travel grants to ESGE Days 2025 in Barcelona and UEG Week 2024 in Vienna.
